POWEF is a non-profit, community development, non-governmental organization (NGO) established in 2010 to promote quality of life of young
people, women and other vulnerable population across target communities in Nigeria. POWEF’s goal is to achieve basic and sustainable wellbeing of the people. POWEF is a membership organization of professionals in development and development-related fields working to achieve similar goal of advancing health, social, economic and environmental wellbeing of target population across Nigeria.
Registered members of POWEF work as volunteers, facilitators and consultants while group members are usually engaged as project implementing partners (IPs) for POWEF community-based interventions. POWEF promotes community ownership and effective
collaboration across programmes and institutions.
POWEF as a non-profit NGO depends solely on grants from national and international donor agencies, corporate social responsibility’s (CSR) funds, donations from members and philanthropic individuals. Income realized from POWEF’s social businesses including consultancy services is used to promote organization’s objectives.
POWEF operates best international accounting practice and financial procedure in grant management.
POWEF’s Board of Directors (BODs) consist of community leaders, women leaders, University academia, religion leaders, environment specialists, rural development officials, economic and health professionals and representatives of POWEF target beneficiaries.
